Thrifty Finds and a Gift of Ribbons

My grandmother had the most fabulous collection of Salt and Pepper shakers. I loved to look at them when I visited her and sometimes I'd helped dust them.
I have such fond memories of standing in front of the book case looking at all of the whimsical shakers.
I want to have a fun collection for my future grandchildren. So I thought I'd get started now.
Here's the start of my collection of shakers that I found on our trip to Ohio, but first I have to show you this that I also picked up...
Isn't this the cutest darn squirrel vase ever?!!!

Squirrel Salt and Pepper Shakers: of course~

Squirrel with walnut and Tennis playing squirrels.

Coffee pots shakers and a Cat on a rocker with fireplace shakers.
All of these shakers were $1.50 a pair!

My daughter Autumn gave me these lovely ribbons yesterday. I love them all! Thanks Sweetie:)

Such lovely things! My grandmother had some beautiful things but for some reason I was always fascinated with the ugly travel souvenir one that had a little button to press. lol

I love the way your squirrel at the top looks sitting on that potholder.

My granny had a large dimestore collection of them, too! What I would give to stand in her little house and look at them again.

Those ribbons are great. Lucky you!

I think your coffee pot shakers are the most unique I have seen.

Wow, sounds like collecting shakers is a grandmotherly thing to do:)
My sister and I always think of grandma's collection. We wished we had some of them.
Another fond memory of my grandmother was her big soft sugar cookies that always seems to be fresh in her turquiose colored cookie jar.
She made them with sour cream, so yummers!

The cat on the rocker and fireplace set is my favourite - but they are all so great! My grandma had all those little china figurines from the tea tins. I loved those. I wish someone had kept them.

OMG Anet! I think we have that sugar cookie recipe, except we call them "sour cream cookies." I got it from my mom, who got it from the lady who lived down the street when I was a little girl. We called her Mrs. "B." They are my daughter's favorite. She usually asks me to make them for her birthday.

Yes! they are almost cake like. Big and fluffy:)
I still have the recipe... I should figure out to make them gluten-free, so I could enjoy them again.
